# New LinkedIn message

> A new message in one of your one-to-one LinkedIn conversations, received or sent, from LinkedIn, your phone, Groovin or the API.

> [!WARNING]
>
> `message.sent_by_me` is `true` for messages you sent. An automation that answers messages must skip these, or it will answer itself.

Not sent: group conversations, company page messages and sponsored messages.

* `conversation_id` and `linkedin_account.org_linkedin_account_id` work directly with [Read a conversation](https://docs.groovin.ai/reference/api/get-chat-messages.md) and [Send a LinkedIn message](https://docs.groovin.ai/reference/api/send-message.md).
* Attachments carry details only: files are not sent.
* `text` is at most 10,000 characters, and `text_truncated` says when it was cut. Very large events lose `quoted` first, then attachments, then text.
* Message texts and names are written by LinkedIn users: treat them as untrusted, especially if an AI reads them.
